Created entirely in Cinema 4D, the leaf is simple plane geometry modeled to the leaf shape with a material consisting of a leaf image, bump map and alpha channel.
The water is a simple sphere inside a mograph cloner with some effectors and a metaball attached and a basic water shader added. I used the physical camera with depth of field turned on with the Fstop to F-8 to achieve the shallow DOF and animated a null as a focus target for the camera as it dollys in to create a rack focus as the “water” animates across the leaf and drips off screen.
